VA State Photo ID Reminder
each player must have an active Walker ID card to play tackle football this fall. Walker D cards are issued by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. The ID cards are used to verify each player at official Fairfax County Youth Football League weigh-in certifications during the month of August. The FCYFL Officials will not accept receipts from the VA DMV at weigh-ins, players must have the official photo identification card.
Please note the DMV no longer issues these identification cards are in person. It takes approximately 7-14 business days for the photo identification to arrive at your home. So the earlier you can get this done the better.
Please ensure your child’s name, address, and date of birth are 100% accurate on the ID. If you already have a Walker Permit please check the expiration date. If it has expired you will need to renew it. The cost of the permit is $10.00.
Have You Applied For Your Player Identification Card?

Player ID Card
Everyone participating in the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL) must have a valid VA DMV ID card in hand for weigh-in. No other form of ID is acceptable to FCYFL. This means FCYFL will not accept birth certificates, military IDs, passports or any form of ID other than a VA DMV ID.
For our returning players this is a gentle reminder to check the expiration date on your current ID. Older versions of the ID expire after 5 years. For our new players, here is a link to the Virginia DMV website that explains how to obtain a Child ID Card from DMV.
Due to security issues, the DMV will not issue an ID at the time of application. These IDs are mailed to your home and the process can take up to 2 weeks.
Starting football for the first time can be exciting for a child and their family. It is often said that while baseball is America's pastime, football is America's passion. Over the years, we have noticed more and more that younger brothers and sisters are sitting on the sidelines wanting to get on the field but are unable to because of league rules about age.
There is a tremendous emphasis on fun, fundamental development, and making sure that every child feels comfortable with tackle football before they move to a more competitive level. Many of the children are also involved in soccer, baseball, and other sports. Our hope is to impart such an amazing experience on them that they will return year after year to our program and grow with us. There is no pressure, and the children learn at an early age to appreciate the camaraderie, the nostalgic night games under the lights, and the smell of fresh cut grass.
New in 2014, MYF will introduce a 5/6 year old "Colts" introductory division within our programThe Colts program is for 5 & 6 year olds and recommended for 7 year olds under 50lbs. The Colts program will have practice only 3 days a week in August and then 2 days a week once school starts. Players will be outfitted in full pads including helmets. Practices will focus on the very basics of football skills, introduction to positions and general concepts of the game. As the season progresses and our young players are ready, we will introduce live scrimmages within our house teams, and then expand to the McLean Bowl as appropriate.
